Dexter Peterson Page Two
I've gotten
hali's permission to share a few Dexter pages so here's an innocuous one. Sorry kids, it's 99% human. The story is a ton of fun though. Poor Dexter keeps finding himself in various realities at random times. This is from his sparse apartment where he wakes up and finds himself home, but he isn't sure how long that will last. Maybe he'll step out of the shower and find himself on a Spanish Galleon or on the International Space Station or driving a big rig down Route 66.
Dexter is the most challenging project to date that I have ever done and this page really doesn't show much regarding the scope of it all. I have had to do so much research and stretched myself so far, and when this is over I will be exhausted but a better artist for the ordeal. I also can thumb my nose at anyone who says I am "just a furry artist".
Enjoy the sneak peek! And for more information on the project go visit http://www.whoisdexterpeterson.com

It's cool, I understand exactly what you mean. Little Tales is simplistic and has that dotty zip sheet look. Since this is going to be a much larger project I'm putting a lot more work into it. Folks don't quite believe me when I say that this is going to swallow me up for the rest of this year and a very large chunk of the next, but this is one of the easy pages. There will be pictures of colonial era plantations and WWII battlefields and spacescapes and alllllllll sorts of stuff.
I told Matthew (AKA
hali) that I'm going to curse his name while I'm drawing some of this and he told me to be sure and film it. Fneh.

Probably not, if only because coloring it would probably double the production time for me, and this is already going to take me almost a year to complete as it is. We may offer a color version in the future, but for now graytone is the nicest and most efficient method I have right now.
There might be a smattering of inspiration there. One quirk about his jumps though is that he's Dexter in every single life. If he's on the Galleon then the people on the ship all know him as Dexter Peterson, and he finds that he knows the people around him and knows what he's supposed to be doing at the given moment. If he pops into the big rig after that he'll probably forget a lot from the previous life, but he'll suddenly be Big Dex Peterson the bigrig driver.
The story is a lot more complicated than that, mind you, and I'm not the writer. Just the person translating the words into images. I can't wait to hear the Dexter music Matthew writes, myself :)

Yup, I can see you've put a lot more into the composition and camera angles here as opposed to little tales. I especially like the last panel, how you did the translucent light-scattering effect through the shower door. Probably just a filter that you can use in Photoshop (I assume?) but it looks really good nonetheless.
