(D&D) Welcome to the Night Life
lol so I might have mentioned Tim's awesome D&D sessions, well, I've always REALLY loved character creation, so as you can imagine, I have a number of characters on the backburner I've made in preparation for campaigns we've not even started yet. This is my planned Blood Hunter: Gallows Grimm. (buttons on his belt matted in because I didn't want to draw them)
Bio:
Without a father, and the oldest of the two Grimm sons, Gallows had to grow up quickly or face the short life of a street urchin. Desperation colored his early years, taking whatever charity and work that came his way as his mother fell badly ill, pushing the boys to the brink of ruin and loss of the only things they had in life. When they city Guard rounded them up for a new opportunity along with many others from the city's Guard reserves and lower class, it seemed as though their woes were finally behind them. A mysterious source of magical power had been discovered, and secretly the King had been mining it to fuel their city in ways hitherto unknown, called simply the Black Broth. The teams who were tasked on retrieving it, who were officially dubbed "Alchemists", had the secret task of collecting it from the only place where it could be found: the Nine Hells.
These missions often times bore incredibly high mortality rates, and as the Devils began to take notice of mankind's missions to steal their Black Broth, began to move them deeper into the Hells, and began guarding them more fiercely. Determined to earn the money to keep his brother off the street & get his mother's medicine, the 13 year old Gallows and his younger Brother dared to continue on these missions. However, with their poor training and relatively disposable nature, eventually disaster would befall the Alchemists in a tragedy in which Gallows was the only survivor. In frantic desperation, Gallows made a deal which cursed him to save his Brother and escape the Nine Hells, unfortunately the King had decided that they had enough Black Broth to last for generations, and the Alchemists were a loose end he could not abide. Once more his brother was slain, now lost to him forever, and in his attempt to escape, his mother perished in the excitement.
Alone, and now forever burning from the inside out: in constant pain and wilting, Gallows adopted a melancholic personality, growing to dislike all but the downtrodden and others suffering under the heel of others, and swearing a lifetime revenge on the King who had killed so many, and sat behind his lies: beloved by his unsuspecting people. Before his life force finally burns up with the rest of his body, damning him to the Nine Hells if he cannot break his curse, Gallows aims to break the shackles of the oppressed as he slowly makes his way back to his once home.
