I had asked
Dingopatagonico if he wouldn't mind that I try recoloring one of his other drawings. I figured I could use the practice.
He's been very patient with me as it took me some time to get this done. I had been dealing with a number of real life issues during the time.
Challenges: One was trying to figure out how to bring out the individual fingers from the black of the hands. I decided to just highlight the edges that couldn't be seen. The other one was trying to do the shading, I feel it isn't complete, but seems enough to be presentable at least.
Thoughts: I had wanted to add a background but it would have added perhaps twice as much time to the piece. I pondered removing all the black lines/outlining for a different kind of style. I decided to leave them in, it would have meant trying to figure out how shade her hair strands so they stood out from her head better. And I wasn't sure on how I would shade in the creases in the clothing.
I really like how the hair came out with the highlights. I wanted to retain the style that
Dingopatagonico went with. It came out better than I had expected. I'll have to try and remember how I did it for when I do some other arts. I almost forgot to add Ciro's blush in the end. It kind of came out ok I think. It could have been better but I didn't feel like trying to fight Paintshop all night to get it right.
