"Notice anything different ?"
D'oh! - yep ... i misspelled her name.
The basis for this version is from March '08. The pencil from Jan or Feb '04. i did two slightly different versions and wasn't happy with either. Back in April this year i mixed the two together but didn't get back to retouching it because someone dropped a planet on my head - the latest effect of that is that my right elbow went to heck last night and i cant raise my arm above my chest - so i wanted to see if i could still draw until i get it fixed - and doing some retouching on this was a fun test. i painted colour over some lines, adjusted the contrast, etc.
This was the basis for the re-drawn "Bunnie's In Space" - penciled in April '04 and coloured in Feb '10 :

i used to get the Sonic, Knuckles, etc comics for my kids around '96 - '01 as they grew up with the Genisis, Saturn, and Dreamcast games. i liked Patric Spaziante's covers, Steven Butler's art on Sonic, and Many Galan's art on Knuckles ... but the comics and the games seemed to lose their mojo after that era.
Oh I think it's pretty impressive the comics ran for as long as they did, considering the source material they had to work from! I wonder how long the comic would've lasted if they'd made it comedy-adventure like the first Sonic cartoon series? Fortunately they went in a different direction story-wise, and we ended up with all these cool woodland characters that to this day people still remember fondly, even if the later stories tended to go off the rails a little bit, lol
Personally I've only got a passing familiarity with the comics, but from what I've seen the art could be VERY hit-or-miss. Steven Butler was definitely one of the hits, he drew some wonderful Sallies :3
