These are Penny Provolone's parents: Nezumi Tendo-Provolone and Marqually Provolone.

Nezumi Tendo was once a young, fiercely competitive "Onna Sumo" before she settled down to be a geisha. In the medium of that transition, she met Marqually at a festival where many of the finest world chefs exhibited "mixed ethnic" food recipes. The noblewoman was so impressed with Marqually's integration of Italian and Japanese cuisine, she hired him to be her cook. They eventually fell in love, married in two churches, and had their one child: Penei "Penny" Provolone.

The couple would not stay together for long once Penny became an adolescent. Due to a lack of compromise as to how to raise their daughter, Nazumi and Marqually separated and moved on to be true to their own professions. Penny herself would learn from her mother to be a fierce sumo fighter while her father taught her to be a good and cheery cook.

Penny still loves her parents to this day despite their vast differences. And because of that difference, Penny learns the value of Integrity: the virtue of seeing past differences and valuing the content of another's character. Penny would eventually find love with another of vast differences herself: a video game savvy cat named Tommy Mallix.

The irony is that Penny's mother doesn't take too kindly to cats... =0
