I think it's more likely no than yes (but this is variable, to everyone's taste, and many interesting details can also be taken out of the ability to infect). I guess no, because the character was initially presented by me as aloof and withdrawn (but not irritable) in view of the problem that he needs to hide. Alienation is intensified by the fact that no one else is able to understand it (just because the disease is not transmitted, that is, it rests only on him, like a curse), and he is forced to live with it alone (at least because he doesn't know there are others like him somewhere else).
I also thought about the fact that since childhood he had to take a huge amount of painkillers, since the germination of flowers always brings severe pain, and after so many years he developed a strong drug addiction. Maybe I'll make a couple more adopts with this theme (presumably his blood sisters or brothers), or even an entire race (as a kind of strange genetic deviation that arose in some universe), because I just really like the theme with flowers. By the way, roses grow from his chest and do not go beyond this zone (only if there is no relapse of the disease, which will lead to an early death and this whole flower system will grow so much that it will absorb the whole body).
