Its a old school sci-fi book series by Edgar rice Burroughs (the dude who made Tarzan). It about a American Civil War solider gets transported to Mars and ends up caught in high flung adventures, helping the tribe of Mars rebel against a race of powerful Martians that use their technology to pretend they're gods. The aesthetic of Mars is like in this picture; all the cultures have these very tribal dress and socieites but there is also a lot of High technology all over the place.
