"Average folk from the large cities all over the civilized world usually have very little curiosity about the technological wonders that ease their lives in almost all aspects, most of them think everything is just invented by scientists on their wondrous laboratories, but this is far from truth, very few things are actually invented they are mostly scavenged and studied and replicated, yet scientists have the cozy job of deciphering old machines and their mechanisms the true unsung heroes of this endeavour are the Tech Hunters, these small barely trained and poorly equipped independent teams are responsible for essentially every single breakthrough of the industrial war!
The history of the first tech hunters date back to the end of the mages era, it all begun with a group of independent alchemists who were tired of the strangle grip of the mage bureaucracy, the excessive traditionalism of the order prevented essentially any technological development, so they went on a long journey trough the great white desert to the very end of the world were they found a mighty structure, a tower with more than 50 kilometers in height which now is known as the Great Forge city, during the exploration of this structure, many ancient pieces of technology were uncovered, But most of the times recovering such pieces of tech was not a safe endeavour, some rooms were filled with deadly gases, radioactive material, mutated creatures and even decaying murder robots, so exploring and scavenging became a job for the poorer members of the group.
As the centuries passed tech hunting became a even more profitable business, but eventually most of the great white desert was explored and its precious technological treasures stripped clean, so tech hunters had to explore even further, now on a even deadlier land known as the Dustlands, a seemingly endless wasteland filled to the brim with ruins of hundreds of diferent civilizations forgotten by the time, a land were many empires rose and fell to dust before story was even written, a land so vast that not even the boldest and most well equipped of the Valencii explorers found the end! This dead land houses horrors not yet known by man, and fates worse than death, but for those with skills and courage this land is an oyster filled with countless treasures ready to be cracked open.
Every year thousands try to brave the Dustlands in search for its mytical treasures only dozens survive, in order to be a successful tech hunter or at least a surviving one, one must be a jack of all trades, atentive to small details and a fast learner, being a crackshot with a shotgun also helps a lot, some ruins are empty, others are stuffed with murder machines, but sometimes the adventure can end due something simple like a unseen hole on the floor.Any room may have something of value, small components are highly prized and can be found everywhere, but the true treasures are intact robots, prosthetics, weapons and most importantly data storage, ancient information stored in to shards of stone and glass worth millions, and a intact data quartz can easily be auctioned for billions."
