I was a bit surprised to see this duck at the local pond. I thought surely there was something wrong with it- that it was diseased, judging by the bright red patches on its face. I looked it up online, however, and discovered that this was a perfectly healthy Muscovy duck, a breed that naturally has these hairless red patches around the eyes and on the bill.
