I'm getting less surprised all the time at who has or had one in the past. So am I right? Is this the skateboard for the 21'st century?

Nah, but you could definitely see people complaining if you did it all the time. It's loud enough to get my ears ringing.

It did kinda remind of a a rifle shot. That whip is pretty loud.

Earplugs are recommend! Now I've only ever heard it crack about eight feet plus my arm's length away from me, I'm trying and failing to imagine what it would be like right by your head! Must get Theo to break out his microphone, get some samples.

I can definitely see why it would be classified as a weapon. The thought of weaving a few razor shards into the cracker, eeep! Teeny blades traveling at 760 mph, sweet!

Not quite not yet, but I will! It's awesome to see the puff of vapor that appears when you crack in damp weather, I've seen that quite clearly. I've got a lens with an f-stop of 2.8 and the camera will do up to 1/6000 second so I WILL get it. It will take a lot of tries, but I've the time and the patience.

I hate to disappoint but I think what you're seeing is the cracker at the end of the whip. It's the piece of braided/knotted cord at the end of the whip, disposable and meant to be replaced because they get shredded because they're constantly being subjected to insane forces. 1/250 second shutter speed is far too slow to catch action like that but I should be able to do it with the highest settings. 1/2000 of a second will freeze the writing on the top of a tire on a truck speeding towards me on the highway. That's a combined velocity of over 320 kph (top of the tire goes 2x vehicle speed). Speed of sound is about 1200 kph so, should be able to get something at 1/6000 sec.

I do say I see a small hint of a booncloud at the very edge of the picture. Though that might just be my mind playing tricks on me.

The tractor in the background nees some paint touch-ups and maybe a tune-up ! :P i love farms and farm settings like that.

Yes it definitely makes for a nice centerpiece in the yard. Great for macro-photography, what with all the moss, rust, textures.

*SIGH!* That leather jacket will turn 27 this spring. Gotta freshen up that old painting I have in the attic, the one that nobody is allowed to see. Also, what's this about bathing in virgin's blood? Heard good things about that but the problem is well, oh you'll see that one a mile away.
