Wanted to try making a female raccoon character after noticing the lack of such, and learning the hard way how tricky raccoons actually are to draw; I'm only really happy with that first one on the left.
A descendant of the several raccoons imported to Japan as exotic pets during the late 70s, Potchi is a resourceful and cunning hedonist who relishes the opportunity to indulge in her vices, often of the gluttonous variety. Complicating this lifestyle is the fact that she's been deemed an invasive pest by locals who would really want her dead. However, some of the native critters can vouch for a track record of odd acts of decency or kindness that she'll never acknowledge or admit. While her English is perfectly fluent, her sporadic attempts at Japanese amount to a quaint Tonto-esque syntax, which only emphasizes her fish-out-of-water status. Enamored by tales of the excesses of her natural habitat, she dreams of escaping the harsh and unwelcoming Japanese environment for the enchanting land of America, where raccoons are free to live as they please and their bellies are never empty.
