Hello everyone. Here we have a special bonus chapter the takes place from Jake's perspective. Hope you enjoy it.
Preface: After returning home from the night of the lunar eclipse, an unexpected surprise leads to Jake and his family having an awkward and unusual conversation.
It was the night of the lunar eclipse and Jake had just gotten home after spending the night with his friend Max. “Even after all this time, I still can’t believe I turned my best friend into a werewolf.” Jake thought to himself as he got home. As he was heading off to bed, he heard an unfamiliar noise coming from the front room. Checking it revealed that the noise was his mom, transformed as a werewolf, sleeping on the coach. “Looks like she’s worked up the courage and self-control to try sleeping in the house on a night like this. She’s making progress.” With that positive thought in mind, Jake soon went off to bed, as he had school tomorrow. He awoke the next morning feeling really groggy as he made his way to the front room. “Morning mom.” He yawned. He looked to where his mom was sleeping to find her still asleep, and still a werewolf. Jake quickly ran to the window to see what time of day it was. It was the early morning, with the sun just starting to rise. While looking through the window, Jake could just barely make out his reflection, which showed he was still a werewolf too. “Oh no. This isn’t good.” Jake looked back to his mom to see her waking up. “Morning…Jake.” She said seeing her son still a werewolf with the rising sun behind him. “Why haven’t you changed back yet?” she asked him. “I don’t know. You haven’t changed back either.” Said Jake. The amount of fear that could be seen in Jake’s mom’s face was alarming. The two of them could then hear noises coming from the kitchen. “Dad’s awake! What are we going to do!?” said Jake. “Jake? Are you up already?” Jake’s dad asked from the kitchen. “Has your mom come back from girl’s night or is she sleeping at one of her friend’s house?” “Umm…” Jake responded. “Are you doing ok Jake? You don’t sound well.” Jake’s dad could be heard making his way over to the family room. Just as he entered the room with coffee in hand, Jake’s dad froze in place as his eyes fell upon the two werewolves that were his wife and son. They stared at each other for a solid minute until Jake’s dad started laughing. “Wow, you two gave me a real good scare with those costumes. I know it’s a bit early for Halloween, but you just couldn’t help yourselves, could you? Those are some big suits too.” he said. “Do we tell him?” Jake asked his mom. “I feared we would have to have this conversation eventually.” Said Jake’s mom reluctantly. “What conversation?” Jake’s dad asked. “Kevin, you’ve been married to an actual werewolf for the past 22 years. One of your sons also happens to be one too.” Said Jake’s mom. “Wow, that’s a bit blunt.” Commented Jake. “He deserves to hear the truth. I’ve been hiding this from him for so long and it’s hurt me lying to the man I love.” Said Jake’s mom. “Wait, you’re actually being serious about this?” asked Jake’s dad. “Yes dad, we are. Half of our family has Lycanthropy.” “How long has this been a thing, Lynda?” Jake’s dad asked. “Ever since I was Jake’s age. I was a werewolf long before we first met.” Jake’s mom answered. “Did you accidentally bite Jake and now he’s one too?” Jake’s dad asked. “Heavens, no. I may not have as much self-control as I would like, but I have enough to not hurt my family. I must have passed it on to Jake when we had him.” Said Jake’s mom. “So is Scott one too?” asked Jake’s dad. “No. That’s why I said only half of the family had Lycanthropy. I can confirm Scott isn’t a werewolf.” Said Jake. “And just so we’re clear, you two don’t plan to eat me, right?” Jake’s dad asked. “Kevin, what did I just tell you? I wouldn’t hurt anyone that I knew was family or a very close friend.” Said Jake’s mom. “Well, that you knew was family.” Said Jake. “Jake, I already told you I was sorry about that.” Said Jake’s mom. “So, does that mean you’ve hurt strangers before?” Jake’s dad asked. “When I was younger, I have seriously hurt people before, yes. I at least haven’t killed or eaten anyone. But I have had a few close calls.” Said Jake’s mom. “What about you Jake?” asked Jake’s dad. “My record’s clean except for one bite.” Said Jake. “Wait, you’ve bitten someone!?” said Jake’s mom, very alarmed. “I have. I bit Max.” said Jake. “You bit your best friend!?” said Jake’s mom. “If I didn’t do it, he would have died. I had no choice.” said Jake. “So, you turned your best friend into a werewolf?” asked Jake’s dad. “Yes, I did. Although he seems to be enjoying it. Max has quite a lot of self-control. I had a few control issues when I first started transforming but he’s never had any problems with keeping himself in check. He was even able to help me with some of the control issues I had. And that was before he was a werewolf.” Said Jake. “How long has he known you’ve been a werewolf?” asked Jake’s mom. “He actually knew before you did, mom.” Answered Jake. “He found out around January when I went over to his place for one weekend. I actually protected him and his home from a robber while I was transformed. I managed not to hurt anyone, but Max got so scared he passed out. Which reminds me, you’re taking this awfully well dad.” “Oh, don’t get me wrong, I’m absolutely terrified right now. It’s just that neither of you have tried to eat me yet.” Said Jake’s dad. “And for the third time, we’re not going to.” Said Jake’s mom. “Also, don’t you have to get ready for work?” “Oh crap, you’re right. I also need to call Jake’s school before I go.” Said Jake’s dad. “Why’s that?” asked Jake. “Well there’s no way you’re going to school looking like that.” Said Jake’s dad. “Oh, right.” Said Jake. “Are you two going to be alright with having the house to yourselves?” asked Jake’s dad. “I may need some help.” Said Jake’s mom. “My instincts keep telling me to leave the house and go to the woods, but I can’t go outside looking like this.” “I try to keep her in check.” Said Jake. “Thanks, I better get going.” Said Jake’s dad. After he made a call to Jake’s school, Jake’s dad soon left for work. “Well, that went better than expected.” Said Jake. “True, though part of me still wishes I never had this conversation.” Said Jake’s mom. “I still wonder why we didn’t turn back to normal last night.” Said Jake. “I do too. In all of my years of being a werewolf, I’ve never had this happen before.” Said Jake’s mom. The two of them continued to stay inside their home for the rest of the day, still wondering why they didn’t turn back to normal.
It was early the next day and Jake and his mom still had not turned back to normal. “It looks like we’re stuck like this. Guess I’m going to spend the rest of my life stuck as a werewolf.” Said Jake, saddened by this turn of events. It was at that point that the doorbell rang. “You two go hide somewhere while I get the door.” Said Jake’s dad. The two of them stayed in the kitchen while Jake’s dad opened the door. “Why if it isn’t Max. What brings you here this early?” asked Jake’s dad. “I came to see if Jake was ready for school today.” Said Max. “Ah, you see… Jake isn’t feeling very well today.” Started Jake’s dad. “It’s ok dad, Max knows remember.” Said Jake as he came out of the kitchen to see Max. “My mom and I have been stuck as werewolves ever since yesterday so that’s why I was absent from school yesterday and will have to be for today and most likely forever.” “Jake, why did you just tell him about me?” came Jake’s mom’s voice from the kitchen. “I told him about you two nights ago. Did both of you completely forget that I told you Max is also a werewolf now?’ asked Jake. “Oh, right.” Said Jake’s mom as she came out of hiding. “See, I was stuck as a werewolf yesterday too.” Said Max. “Oh, so how are you normal now?” asked Jake. “Allow me to show you something. May I come in?” asked Max. “Yes, you may.” Said Jake’s mom. Max entered Jake’s home and made his way to the bathroom. After a little bit, Max soon came out transformed as a werewolf. “Wait, what!?” After concentrating, Max then turned back to normal right in full view of Jake’s family. “Ta da!” said Max. “You can control it!?” cried Jake and his mom. “And based on why I can, you two should be able to do the same. Remember the lunar eclipse from the night before?” said Max. “Wait, are we able to control our own transformations?” asked Jake’s mom. “You should. Have none of you tried?” said Max. “Well, no.” admitted Jake. “Then just concentrate for a bit. Think about turning back to normal. And I mean really think about it.” Said Max. After closing their eyes and thinking for a few seconds, Jake and his mom soon turned back to normal. “It actually worked!” cried Jake. “Oh, thank you so much Max!” said Jake’s mom as she went to hug Max. “Now if you don’t hurry up, we’ll be late to school.” Said Max. “Right. Let me get changed.” Jake made his way to his room to change into a proper set of clothes, happy he wasn’t going to be stuck as a werewolf for the rest of his life.
