I have no idea what to do with this.
You're going to laugh at me, but I drew this because I saw a drawing of someone's hair - and it looked like a bird. I'm not kidding. This was inspired from someone's hair. I kinda at first wanted to draw a crow who's wings and tail feathers kinda melted into shadows and stringed along like hair, but I got a bit side-tracked.
Just a bit.
I ended up trying to balance a smooth swirly style with jagged edges, and failed pretty badly. I want to make this into a details piece with a background and not just a tribal design, but I have no idea where to start, so it's just going to sit here. Forever.
Going into scraps later. <3

No laughter here. I think that's actually pretty cool. The human mind is pretty much programmed to see patterns like that. That's why some people, when they look at the front end of a car, are able to see a face in the grill and headlights. I do that all the time. It's all down to one of those leftover quirks of evolution that helped our ancestors differentiate between things that were safe and things that would get you killed. I've never seen any thing in someone's hair. When its long enough to flow and whirl around it's usually too much in motion for me to spot something before it vanishes. But I love the idea, and I really like this little piece. It has an almost magical or mythological feel to it. As for finishing it, you never know. Maybe if you let it sit here for a while you'll find a way to do something like what you wanted to with it. But even if you don't, it's still really pretty.
I always thought car manufacturers made their grills look like faces on purpose! I swear, I've seen a car with it's tongue stuck out at me. That's really interesting to learn about the human psyche, I always thought it was just because most people are silly and imaginative. I know I have an overactive imagination a lot of the time. To be fair, it was a drawing of someone's hair so the motion was captured in place instead of twisting and whirling.
I don't usually do tribal pieces like this, so thank you for the kind words and encouragement! I'm glad it inspired a magical feeling in somebody. I really hope something comes along that gives me an idea to finish it. I don't think I have a single piece in my gallery or art folder that I've truly finished!
