A demon huh... Wow this art piece inspired the following scenario in my mind. I wanted to share it with you:
A woman living alone in a haunted house up in the mountains is watching the snowfall out the window at night. Her house is a bit of a safe haven for ghosts and spirits, and tonight was a busy night with all sorts of noises around the room. This is usual business at her house, so she kind of ignores it although, noises kinda keep you awake even though they're just innocent ghosts taking a break. Sometimes she talks to them, sharing stories with each other and keeping each other company. The reason why this woman was living alone is now kinda obvious... And while she's mesmerised by the cold feeling coming from the window, contrasted by the warmth radiating from the fireplace behind (and keep in mind this is a haunted place, you need a extra large fire to warm it up as ghosts are notorious for making the room cold) she is suddenly awaken from her "daydream" by a loud crash. A chair fell off the table, as well as other objects started moving at the same time in a way that made it feel like a bunch of people rushed out of the room. And indeed, a deep silence followed, she was alone in the room and she knew it. But why did all the ghosts suddenly run away? She was kinda scared now, ironically, so she starts backing away into a corner. The warmth of the fire place was now very intense, as no ghosts were drawing in the heat anymore. All of a sudden, a shadow figure manifests on the floor in front of the fireplace, the features were barely visible enough to tell it was someone with horns, which explains why everyone ran away. She knew it was a demon by now, and she's frightened. She was expecting a sudden drop in temperature as demons draw in most of the heat in the room, but not this demon, this one made the room feel like it was on fire! She was now worried that a demon came to burn her house down. She starts to walk out of the room but stops to take one last look at the manifesting demon. She noticed the demon was sat on the floor holding their foot and looking worried, she can see enough details by now to make out that it was a female demon, thinking deeply about something and rubbing her own foot with that worried look on her face. The woman begins to realise that maybe the female demon wasn't even paying attention to what was happening, maybe her foot was hurting? No, that's not the face of someone in foot pain. What's going on here? Why is this demon so sad, or maybe she's not even sad. But there was an even more pressing issue: the heat was so intense she needed to do something before a table or the couch caught fire, as this was the first time she realised that a manifesting spirit can cause the room to heat up instead of the usual chill. All of a sudden, the shadow figure starts to dissapear. The woman realised that this is because someone else was summoning a demon at a different location but this particular female demon really did not look like she was in the mood to do some human's dirty bidding, so she throws together a quick ritual to summon the female demon in her house instead, in order to save her the trouble of having to be involved in some situation she didn't need right now. The ritual begins but the other person was more prepared and their ritual was winning over hers. She knows that when someone is that well prepared, they mean business and it's never good. She calls the other ghosts in to block the channel to the other ritual, and a couple of them were brave enough to give their energy for this cause, but she needed a couple more. She tries to reason with the ghosts, saying that this particular demon is radiating an unusual amount of heat energy while being in that half manifested state, and that by summoning her, the energy will calm down once it's not needed anymore and her house won't burn! She said she will worry about reasoning with the demon later "Let's save the house!" she said. Upon hearing that, 10 spirits showed up, blocking the channel to the other summoner, allowing her to complete the ritual which resulted in summoning Pyrexia to the room. The heat went away, saving the house but... did she? Or will the demon go mad and burn it down anyway? The ghosts rush out of the room once again and the woman does her best to swallow her fear and sits by the demon's side. She knows it's a bad idea to ask for a demon's name, so she doesn't. The demon reacts now that she's been summoned but the woman quickly said:
"Hey... P...please do not set anything on fire! I did not call you here to ask you to do anything. I summoned you because, in your shadow form, I saw you were thinking deeply about something and I realised someone was summoning you at the same time you were manifesting here. I wasn't sure you were aware of it so I wanted to save you the trouble of being ivolved in something you don't need right now."
*She looks into Pyrexia's fiery eyes and sais* "All I ask in return is please do not burn the house down. I...iif you need to talk... I uhm... I'll listen? If you want...
*given that she was sitting by Pyrexia's side, the sole of her demonic foot was facing the woman. She looks at it and bravely reaches for a pillow to rest under her ankle, so that her foot is comfortable and her ankle bone doesn't press against the hard floor like that. She begins to caress along Pyrexia's sole and toes, in the same way Pyrexia herself did while in her shadow figure form. She even presses her thumb agains Pyrexia's sole, gently massaging it. The woman smiles as she's able to feel how warm the demon's foot was, hoping she didn't cross a line by rubbing the demon's foot. She just wanted to replicate this behaviour as she could tell it meant something to the demon. And she wanted to comfort her... This house was a safe haven for the ghosts. This is why: she's always trying her best to be nice to them... here's to hoping she and her house will live to see the light of day.*
