To assuage the fears of the citizens, news of WulfBane’s quest was cast far and wide. This also meant that hearing that the Captain of the Lupine Guard was going to be alone and on a known route was too tempting of a target for the various evil doers the realm’s hero routinely thwarted.
One such entrepreneur was a strange sorcerer who was waiting to get a drop on the people’s champion. Finding the briefest of openings, the magical menace was able to catch the noble knight off guard enough to activate his trap. Feeling that he was being creative and clever, he thought it fitting to curse the lupine legend to “wolf down” any and all food he could find. Thinking it would prove enough of a distraction, the shadowy sorcerer summoned a sundry of sweets to immobilize and incapacitate Captain WulfBane.
The warrior wolf found his maw perpetually filled and soon enough a layer of fat was building up across his belly. The evil incantations were working and WulfBane found he couldn’t resist long enough to mount any effective counter attack. That is until his belt finally burst under his expanding waste line that the wizard lost their concentration and the cornucopia of calories came to an end. After that there were but two strikes needed.
WulfBane’s shield striking the wizard’s face. And the unconscious wizard striking the ground.
From what he could tell, the wizard was going to be out for a LONG time. He was too far in his quest to try to take his prisoner in at this point. He was forced to leave him behind and hope that one of the standard patrols could find his captured quarry to be processed and serve the justice deserved.
For now, WulfBane had a dragon to defeat and an appetite to quell.
