I love Tirrel / Cerberus' animations. Katan being my favourite.
I know this is basically a copypasta of Tirrel's Meet drawing, but there's some crucial differences.
1) I suck. Midway I compared the lines to the original and it was nothing like it. The proportions were all way off, so I decided to put my own skew on it.
2) No tracing or anything, all drawn freely. This was practice for colouring and shading with vector imagery techniques, as well as practice for observation.
3) Imitation is the best form of flattery. :P

Hey, you really should note me the links when you do stuff like this, else I'll never find them! =)
Tracing doesn't bother me, especially not if you're learning. Though it probably benefited you to do the linework yourself too, because well, that's just learning something else too.
A good trick with the background stuff it to make it lighter than everything else because vectors have a habit of looking quite flat. If you're using Flash, you can group everything in the background together (highlight and ctrl+G) and make it a symbol (F8) and there will be options in the properties panel to brighten or darker it

I've been using Flash to program games for about a year now, but I'd never used it for drawing proper art... didn't think you could, really. But I found your artwork which told me otherwise. =)
I've been experimenting with combining the filters to mimic effects like the airbrush, but I still love the cell shading effect you get when piling several layers of black/white with different alpha levels.
And I've always loved animation. It's so great to see an animator who uses frame-by-frame instead of just tweening everything possible.
Will you be livestreaming this week? They're so funny to watch. =P
And can I ask what brush smoothing you use? 50 seems to distort the line too much and 20 still leaves it a bit rough.

With the brush tool, set it to either 44, 45 or 46

That was both worrying and hilarious when the game wheel set fire to your bed. And it's funny watching you always guess wrong and then say "Screw the rules, I WIN." =P
I don't know what it is about watching you make fun of Jaitsu, Darkmask and others that cheers me up... Maybe it brings back memories of my old group of friends and I before we all split up to go to different Universities across the UK... Damn I miss those guys. But I'm rambling now. =P
