Shadow immediately dropped the ice and rushed over to Maria. Quickly digging away the deep snow all around and scooped her up. She was so cold as he held her against himself. She opened her eyes a bit and looked up at him, a weak smile crossed her lips and seemed like she tried to speak, but she couldn't get any sound out as closed her eyes again.
Shadow held her securely against himself and took off toward the cabin. He nearly busted down the door as hurried inside. Gently placing her on the floor near the fire as he grabbed some more firewood and tossed it into the fireplace.
Once the fire was a decent size he made some simple fish stew and carefully scooped up a bowl of it. Picking Maria up again and settled in front of the fire, laying her on his lap and curled his tail around her as tried to wake her. She was still quite cold and he tried to get her to eat. She took a few sips of the stew, but not much more so he focused on warming her as held her gently against his thick winter coat with his arms and tail around her. Resting his head lightly against her with his ears lowered in worry.
