Something about the rat character's ensemble makes me think he could be a Redwall protagonist. There's something about *not* being super-decked-out in armor that makes up the sort of "equipment set" I usually imagine for many of the heroes and heroines of that series, a few exceptions aside.

Thanks! and yeah I could see that for him as well, sometimes I think it's an interesting look for characters to have partial armor on as if they just found it or there wasn't enough time and resources to be fully prepared for an encounter or adventure and they'd have to make do with what they got or what they could find.
Indeed. Makes me think of some video games that kinda play out like that, too, grabbing what you can and building up from there.
Kinda resonates with some of my book's/setting's lore, too, because the initial order of temple-knights got started when a guy set out to protect some traveling clergy with a wood-axe and a pot lid, the pot lid angle especially being inspired by several video games where that's likely one of your first "shields." :D
