I can only think of 2 explanations why this happened:
1. In the middle of the destruction they set a trap for him and they connected that hose to him to stop him
2. Out of curiosity he connected the hose but the flow was so fast that now he can't reach it
One thing is certain: now it is completely immobile and the only thing left for it is to explode
