New Cameron Film Looks Great
More big blue characters from outer space...
So the new Avatar movie is going to be coming from James Cameron soon... Considering how everyone kind of forgot about the original movie as well as everyone (including myself at one point) throwing a hissy fit about how unoriginal it was, it seems weird that we get a sequel and a bunch of other movies to come from them. Then again, we're getting a movie that's in Cameron's real element, the ocean, and it's alien ocean at that... Well we see the giant blue space lemurs/cat/elves fight against terrors of the deep? Who knows; in some cases, exploring an alien ocean is in some ways pretty interesting given just how weird our ocean can be.
But for the picture, I don't know, I wanted to do something kind of funny but also kind of thought provoking. Now how Artie became such a big as alien was due to an accident and a piece of paper he signed before he was on his way to some off-world colony. The passenger ship crashed into a freighter ship in space (seriously, how does that even happen) and many people aboard both vessels either died or suffered serious injuries. Artie was "lucky" that his brain was perfectly fine and some of his body could function enough to go ahead and be "reborn" in a new body... But that's when he found himself suddenly much taller and in a room full of some doctors, lawyers, and a few diplomats who told him what exactly he was in. Turns out there was a Na'vi tribe who really wanted the humans around to deal with problems of their own. For the humans they got some luxuries beyond their wildest dreams (but not the ubotonium) as well as a sweet vacation spot. Meanwhile, the tribe got what they needed; human weapons and technology to better safe guard the highly coveted luxury resources and land, especially the avatar program... For they could create the ideal warriors who were not only physically imposing, but also incredibly cunning. Turns out that when you sit on some very valuable land in the middle of a harsh planet with a variety of intelligent life forms eyeballing you for conquest, you have to get creative. Frankly Artie just happened to be another mind they could use.
Of course, what happened to his old body? I'll leave that up for your imagination...

It's true. And in all honesty I don't know if the second film will be as successful as the first. Considering that people have since criticized the quality of the script, that the first film was released thirteen years ago and especially that 3D in cinemas has become cheesy in the eyes of the public.
Then again, we're in the age of franchises where characters communicate almost entirely in quips and one liners, everything's pretty much about super heroes, and spectacle is king. The film may be able to work off the spectacle bits because Cameron's all about "popcorn flicks", but who knows.
