This looks very nice so far! The pose is well done, and the background has an eerie fantasy castle look to it.
For some reason I think of Lloyd Alexander's series about Taran (The Horned King, Black Cauldron, Castle of Llyr, so forth). While it never happens in the books, this makes me think of Taran unsheathing and looking in awe at the glow of the legendary sword Dyrnwyn. The way you shaded and how it looks so far, it's a bit like he's appreciating the power and magic glowing from the sword.
Yes, I think too much. x3

Wow thanks a lot for the info, Ro. I didn't know anything about the Taran books but I looked for it and they look good, I guess they are just not popular in my country.I, myself was improvising with this picture and I'm coming with a bit of background story as I move along, so nothing is decided yet. I'll look for these books for more inspiration ;).
No problem! I hope the books do help you, and they are at least a well-written and fun series. They focus more on (I think) older Celtic mythology. There... IS a Disney movie, but they (as Disney tends to do) tacked together pieces of the first couple books and made a very different story.
As you read on, there ARE some burly knights/kings by the last two books. C:
