The Artifact's Manifestation.
The fingers on their gauntlet flex and crack audibly. Where before it was silent, now there is sound and it's disgusting: the wet cracking of a crab's shell mixed with an unnatural soft hiss like steam escaping a vent. Srazoth speaks reassuringly through the cacophony as if nothing is wrong.
"Whatever happens." Crack crack crack. "No matter what you see or hear." Crack crack crunch. "I will not hurt you." They turn away to face the enemy. "We will protect this unit with all we have."
A mass of jagged plates sprouts suddenly from the top of their gauntlet. The force of it causes Srazoth's body to jerk, but they stand as firm as possible. The air is filled with the acrid smell of ozone as the plates grow over their form and a heinous concert of cracking continues. Tendrils of green liquid ooze from below the plates and reach out to embrace the yuan-ti, gradually hardening into something foreign and glossy as it bonds to their scales. The spiked shapes encase them fully from shoulders to feet, even reach up to wrap around their head slowly. Though occasionally they make small reactive sounds and their face shows a sense of dull pain, Srazoth remains unmoving even as their eyes are fully covered, even as twelve bubbling masses congeal where eyes once were. The masses start as pinpricks and swell to the size of eggs in the blink of an eye, shiny, pale yellow green and shining hotly in the dark. Even their naginata is changed, encased by shell, blade glowing as if heated by green fire as it warps into something new.
~~~a sequence I made showing how Pthoste's full armor form manifests. I didn't intent to go this in depth with color and lighting, but i am happy I did, I think it looks pretty cool! Initially I just wanted to do lineart, but it was too intricate to be visually clear without color
I haven't put any good fonts on my new computer yet though 😔These ones get the job done at least!
