really????
I think they are the easiest breed to have. They are kinda needy and like to follow you around- and have to be house dogs. but really- they are easy to train and very low energy in the house. I have had a lot of large breed dogs and the Dane is the easiest of them to deal with. They are very much like having a (huge) cat.
They are a breed you have to really establish dominance over - but really they don't want be alpha dog so they are happy when you're the boss.

I've always been told they were very high maintenance, I've never owned one so I wouldn't know myself though.
I do know they're aware of their size, I watched a Dane carefully maneuver through a room because there were 4 toddlers walking and crawling around and he tipped one of the kids over before and was terrified he'd do it again.

THAT is why I like them- I always have like wet paintings and fragile stuff about and she can walk through without knocking anything over!
BUT- she can be easily trapped because if I move something close to her she will not walk through a narrow space but just calmly stare at me. Like I always accidently block her water bowl with a chair that has slide slightly to close to it- you would think a big dog would just move it but nope..not her!
