Iron Artist #7: Alistair
For
tkdye, it's Alistair (yes, of https://www.newshounds.com ) in a bit of a surreal situation. He was floating in space and looked a little bored, so I gave him something to keep him occupied.
Unfortunately I am still learning the limitations of my tablet. I don't have the flexibility with the tools that I need to pull off clean, cartoony looks. I was experimenting here by doing most of the sketch in a separate layer and then "inking" the final sketch, but without lineweight differences it's kinda bland IMHO. Ah well, live and learn. Though it inspired me to at least finish it somewhat more.

It's Monday morning, so while I know that you, as an artist, would appreciate some kind of artistic critique from a fellow artist, all I can think of was "Man, I so needed this this morning. Ahhhhhhh." :) Thanks so much. It's absolutely killer.
I will say that I hear you a lot on the tablet stuff... the best thing I've done all-digitally was that Schulzian "Good Grief" Kevin a while back. My hand is way too heavy to make that work on Photoshop; the lines are wobbly and iffy all the time. Maybe on a vector program it'd be easier.
