The story behind this one was that of a DnD campaign. Thunder on the right was enjoying a drink while his friend Samyn was recalling their recent battle with an Oni from his point of view. The dwarven bartenders tending to other patrons.
This was the final commission in November's lineup, and hands down the one that tested me the most with trying to do a lineless background style with many characters. Experimenting with shading and lighting in a low-lit environment came with a lot of lot of trial and error. Mimicing wood grain with my available brushes also proved tricky. I was doing ok until I got to the ceiling in which I was running out of different grain patterns to sample from. Everything started to look rather same-y.
I also now have a new objective to tackle: color theory. Trying to do color correction after the base layers have been done is difficult when trying to display a specific temperature of light. I also think I'm gonna make that jump and put this up for critique. This is a solid candidate to find my weak spots.
