Those who have visited the Falls will know that the best view of them can be seen from the Canadian side of the border. Perhaps unsurprisingly, this has led to most of the attractions being on the side of the Great White North, as well. These attractions were made easy to reach by the locals of upstate New York and the wealthier folks of New England by means of a bridge crossing the Niagara River in 1869. That one collapsed just 20 years later, but in its place came a new, modern arched bridge which opened in 1898…and then collapsed 40 years later. With the old saying of third time’s a charm holding true, and new new bridge was opened in 1941, and has stood as an easy access route for road and foot traffic ever since. Awaiting for American tourists on the Canadian side are casinos, hotels, restaurants, a ferris wheel, a revolving restaurant, ground-floor restaurants that don’t revolve, and plenty of duty free shops.

There was a photographer on FA some years back who took the most remarkable photographs of Canada and the US from just over the border. Sadly he just vanished and with him / her all the beautiful images so it's nice to see some new views from Canaukland.
Glad you enjoyed your stay there and in the US and hope you didn't spend all your money in either the duty free shops OR the MANY casinos! :D

Having lived so close to Niagara Falls for all of his life, I've enjoyed many decades of visiting the Falls. You could imagine the immense amount of changes over a lifespan of 40+ years! Lots of those high-end hotels near the Horseshoe Falls never existed. The Skylon Tower and the 'Minolta Tower' (I think they rebranded over the years) were the only two tall towers that dominated the Canadian side. Casino Niagara was constructed in the 90s (I think!), though that Sheraton Hotel has been there for ages (undergone ownership & name changes over the years).
Niagara Falls is a nice "quick weekend getaway" if you want to escape life in the big city and check out a fun tourist attraction which has AMAZING restaurants to dine in after spending the day out at the Falls and walking around the area.
