I had this image in my head and decided to try and draw it. I think it came out pretty good considering I am not too good at drawing characters interacting like this, but could have definitely been better...
1. James is a little too blue... normally I draw him as gray with only a hint of blue (because I do not like shading from a plain gray, especially in digital mediums), but I didn't have the right colour pencils.
2. My scanner killed the colouring. It looks a lot better on paper.
3. I was too lazy to colour the background... :P
Mistakes aside, I hope you all like this picture. It's been a while since I coloured traditionally with colouring pencils, so I decided to give them a go again. This picture is of James as a teenager and a certain girl raccoon I made up... :P
Here's a short story to go with the picture:
James looked around the small field anxiously, searching for his friend Eliza. He was eager to see her, but was also feeling a little nervous. It had been four years since her family moved away, and they were back in town to visit her grandparents. He and Eliza had kept in touch through e-mail, but this would be the first time they had seen each other since they were only twelve...
Scanning the area, his eyes eventually picked up someone standing by a tree...
James remembered that tree. He looked up in the branches and saw the remains of what had once been his friends' tree house when they were cubs, but it was falling apart now... Several years of exposure to the weather was the culprit...
"Eliza!" He called out as he bolted over.
"James! Is that you?" Replied the small female raccoon.
As he was running over, though, he felt his right foot catch the tip of his tail underneath it. He felt his body rush forward and closed his eyes nervously, bracing himself for impact with the ground.
"Aah!" He heard Eliza gasp...
What he felt wasn't what he had expected. Instead of his whole body falling to the ground, he felt a pair of small hands pressing against his chest... and a few seconds later he felt his lips press up against...
James opened his eyes slowly.
Standing directly in front of him was Eliza, and he calculated that she was the one who had stopped him from hitting the ground. The top of her muzzle was tinted a light pink... She was blushing. Their lips were pressed together... they were kissing. James felt his face immediately go hot, and he was sure he was blushing too...
He secretly didn't want it to end, but he did not want to make Eliza feel uncomfortable, so he bashfully pulled away. "Umm... s-sorry...." he managed to say.
"It's... okay..." Eliza replied, looking down at the ground. She was silent, but then looked back up at James, and it was as if she had forgotten about that incident a few moments earlier. She threw her arms around him and hugged him tightly, "I missed you..."
"I missed you too..." James replied quietly as he returned the hug.
(May be continued ^.^)
