Yeah, if y'all haven't figured it out, Vargas is prone to panicking. It's one of the main reasons why he rarely ever gets assigned to more dangerous missions. However, that has only increased his weight gain, which gives him something else to freak out over. So imagine his shock when he was given a mission to safely retrieve an ancient artifact from enemy territory.
Let's hope he doesn't suffer from a panic induced heart attack...

it took me seeing a few different pics of him to kind of get the vibe that he was just a panicked person who swears easily due to panic, but i kind of love it! Despite his weight and tendencies to panic, does he have his own set of skills and abilities? I'd love to imagine a team on a mission with him and their various interactions and use of skills.
I haven't thought about it much, but I like to think that he trained to be a combatant but his weight makes fighting difficult. However, as he becomes more accustomed to the field, it becomes clear that his true specialty is surveillance: alerting his crewmates of impending danger.
