henbe was open to commissions recently, and I was able to achieve a long-standing goal of mine! When I was growing up, one of my favorite comics outside the furry world was Tintin. The very quality and depth of the stories made it clear that this was a graphic narrative created for adults and children both. And my favorite character was Captain Haddock. So much so that, for a while in my childehood, "thundering typhoons!" was a favorite expletive of mine. :)My own art style bears little resemblance to Hergé's but, as I said, Henbe (whose style is quite obvioulsly like Hergé's ^_^) was available to easily achieve what I myself had never been able to do... design an anthropomorpic version of my favorite Tintin character. :)

This is awesome! You did a really good job combining the style of the comic with a furry character, this design makes sense for him. "Salty Sea dog," heh. Also, I LOVED the TinTin comics, my third grade teacher had lots of them and she let me read them all. There was something rather unique, and very fun, about them.
I didnt know you where a fan of Herge, Gene. I thought the tintin comics was m0ostly a European thing, and I didnt know how well known they where outside of Europe. When it comes franco-belgian comics, my favorite artist is Franquin. Im espescially a fan of how he draws cars and cities, making them both detailed and expressive.
I keep trying to find more Valérian and Laureline and yoko tsuno, two sci-fi comics I really enjoy, which is sadly hard to find in comic shops here. In general I really loved the franco-belgian sci fi comics as a kid, cus my uncle collected them. Because of its sci fi elements, the first and still my favorite album by Herge I read was Destination moon and its follow-up.
IF that isnt an awesome comic, I dunno what is. It has great characters, funny situations and a very nice story that keeps you engaged trough mystery. But then again, its easier to list the herge comics that does not have this. A few of the books have elements that rings oddly to modern ears, but overall its amazing how timeless the comics are, they can still be read and enjoyed by everyone today.
I think I can see a little of Herge in your approach to storytelling. Even in the middle of a complicated story you attention to the little amusing moments, something Herge was really good at

I always did imagine if Haddock as a furry and for some reason I bet he would have howled at Castafiore's singing cause you know how he is a wolf and all XD
