"Rea di Saro, mother of Katarina di Saro.
Rea Lereux was a daughter of a respected romairi captain within the warrior legions. She got promised away for marriage at age fifteen and to the couple of years older Lord Julius di Saro. Despite being forced into the marriage, they seemed to like eachother. At the age of twenty the couple had their first child, a boy, that unfortunatly died a week later due to a rare infection.
At twenty-two Rea gave birth to Katarina without complications.
Without any genes of magicae, Katarina first showed signs in spellcraft at the age of seven, by covering her room in ice and frost. Neither Julius or Rea were spellcasters, so soon suspicion rose whether Rea had an affair with an unknown magician. But after days of investigation it got declared that Rea had not broken her vows, and that Katarina instead is a rare case of newblooded magician.
Ten years later Rea and Julius got killed on the streets of City Saro by an Ithilian nationalist, en route to a public meeting."
Katarina have yet to show her face in the comic ("The Opportunist") but I still wanted to flesh her background up a little, strangely enough by telling her mother's story. Through her it can be explained how she became the head of a major castle, lands, a city, wealth and men.
If I ever arse to, and if I ever complete The Opportunist, it isn't too far fetched to draw another comic about Katarina's background.
