Amongst the many things displaced in war there are also pets. Their homes destroyed, or their owners killed. Like soldiers from all the rest of the world, Akrilaners are always happy to care for these war orphans. Many taking on roles of their own. With their heightened smell and hearing helping both human and beast alike know when the enemy is closing in, when the shells will be landing, or where an injured man may be lying. Even if all they can do is provide comfort to the occupants of whatever shelter, bunker, or trench they are in. They'll be doing a great service to everyone they are around.
