Fireball's Train Table
Fireball is a playful little fox, but his adventures with Thomas took him around the house, with him losing toys in places. This was also in part because he can't open the storage bins we'd keep them in so he'd instead stored them around the house and then forgot where he'd put them. This story tells you about the solution we found to our problem...

It was a quiet day at Jake's house, The Buizel and Cobalt were relaxing on the sofa when Fireball walked up to them. "Daddy, could you help me find my Thomas?" the little fox asked. Jake sighed "Seriously? this is the 10th time you've lost Thomas..." he moaned "Alright, let's go find him..."
Eventually they found Thomas under a set of drawers in Jake's room, but not before finding a couple of the other engines and rolling stock in other places. "Thanks Daddy." Fireball said gleefully. "Anytime." Jake replied dryly "But please don't go losing our stuff anymore." he added as he went to sit back down on the couch with Cobalt. "How was your latest treasure hunt?" The Anthro Pikachu teased. "Well, we found a few other of our toys before we found Thomas." Jake sighed. "Fireball's a good fox, but he seems to take his adventures with Thomas all over the house, and then one of us has to play "Hunt The Trains" with him afterwards. Don't we have storage bins for that stuff to go when not being played with?" "We do." Cobalt said "But he can't open those bins by himself." "Oh yeah, he can't..." Jake remembered. "Maybe we could find a storage box or bin he could access." suggested Cobalt. "Like a rolling box he could push out from under a table or something..."
"That's it!" Cried Jake. "What's it?" Asked Cobalt in surprise. "A storage bin which could be rolled under a TRAIN TABLE. And there IS something like that with the Thomas Wooden Railway." Jake explained. "Yeah, but that brand of Thomas toys has been discontinued for quite some time, and that rebooted line doesn't have a train table... not yet at least." said Cobalt. "True..." Jake said "But Matt Told me about this specialty toy store on the mainland. I think it was called "Toyland". Apparently they sell old toys along with the new stuff being sold in regular stores today, we could find that stuff there." Jake added. "It's worth a look." Cobalt replied.
Jake called Fireball down. "Fireball, you know how you've been misplacing your toys around the house?" Jake asked. "Yes." Said Fireball sheepishly "Am I in trouble?" "Oh no." Jake answered "We understand why you've been doing that, and we have a solution." "What's that?" Fireball asked. "We're gonna be going to that big toy store on the mainland to find a train table and some storage drawers to go under it. With those, you'll be able to store your toys in your own place and you won't need us to get stuff out of the big bins as often." Jake explained. Fireball was ecstatic and leapt into Jake's arms. "Thank you so much, Daddy!" he cried happily. Jake chuckled "Anytime Fireball. Now then, let's go get our table!"
Jake, Cobalt and Fireball were about to leave, when they heard knocking on the door. Jake let out a groan. "Now what?" he said as he opened the door. His frustration turned to surprise when he saw Squeaky, Flipper, and Bluey. "What are you three doing here?" Jake asked. "The others are busy, so Matt is having me and Mr. DumbDumb babysitting Squeaky." Flipper explained "They insisted they come over here to see you guys." he sighed. "Hi Uncle Jake, Hi Uncle Cobalt, Hi Fireball." Squeaky said cheerfully. "Hi you guys." Said Fireball excitedly. "Sorry guys, but we can't hang out." Jake said "We're on our way to get Fireball a train table from Toyland." "Toyland?!" Squeaky cried "Can we come?!" "Well..." Jake said thoughtfully. "Please..." Said Squeaky while giving Jake and Cobalt "the eyes". Jake chuckled and sighed "Alright, but we're only getting a train table and drawers for Fireball, so please don't ask for anything." he said. "I won't." Promised Squeaky. "Alright, next stop; Toyland!" Cobalt called.
After some travelling, they arrived at Toyland. "Alright, we're here." Jake said. "Let's get the table!" Said Fireball enthusiastically. They walked in and after some searching they found a corner of the store with a Train Table, and found that there was more than one. The tables were from Thomas, Brio, and Imaginarium, with each having their respective track, rolling stock, and accessories. Surrounding the train tables were shelves containing old and new toy trains, track, and accessories from multiple different brands. The group was amazed and stood in silence and awe for a while. After finally taking it all in, Fireball and Squeaky began playing on the Thomas train table, with Bluey joining them. Jake sighed blissfully "I remember experiences like this when I was their age." "I wish that's what Matt was doing at their age instead of being cheeky all the time." Flipper put in. "At least it's keeping chum-for-brains from annoying me like always." he added.
Jake walked over to where Fireball, Squeaky, and Bluey were playing. "Having fun?" he asked. "Yes!" the three replied cheerfully. "Glad to hear it." Jake said "Now then, you three have fun while Cobalt and I see about getting the train table and some under-the-table drawers." The blue Buizel said as he and cobalt went to talk to someone about the table.
Jake and Cobalt then found an employee who showed them some pictures of the train tables they had. one of the tables they were shown had illustrations of Thomas pulling various trains on the sides of the table. The longer sides had 3D molded faces of Thomas, Percy, Henry, and James sticking out of 2D printed sheds, while the shorter sides had the legs be an arch with brick detailing that looked similar to a tunnel. "How about this one?" The employee asked. Jake and Cobalt looked at each other, nodded, and looked back to the employee. "It's perfect." They said. And as luck would have it, there were two under-the-table drawers too.
Jake and Cobalt got the boxes for each item and made their way to the registers, when they arrived, they were surprised to find Squeaky, Fireball, Bluey, and Flipper there, with Squeaky holding a bag. "How did you buy something?" Jake asked. "Daddy gave me $20 before I left." Squeaky explained. "You'd best tell him thank you." Jake said. "I did before I left." Squeaky replied. "Well then, What did you get?" Cobalt asked. "It's a surprise." Squeaky said with a wink. "Well, We've got the table and drawers." Jake said "We'll pay for them and then we're gonna go home." Once they paid, Jake and Cobalt each grabbed one of the drawers while bluey carried the table's box on his back. "This is gonna be a long walk home." Jake said to himself.
After some more travelling, they made it back to Jake's house. When they got there they put the boxes for the table and drawers on the floor in the playroom. Jake, Cobalt, and Bluey were tired from carrying the boxes and sat down to rest. "Hey Squeaky, why don't you show us what you got from Toyland?" Jake suggested. "Ok." said Squeaky as she pulled out a small white and tan box. Upon closer inspection it looked to be one of the new Thomas Wooden Railway Reboot engines, which was Diesel. "Daddy showed me pictures of the new Thomas Wooden Railway toys and I thought I'd get one of my own." Squeaky said. "That's so cool." Fireball replied "I want to get Percy." he added. The fox turned to Jake and Cobalt "So do we open the box and the Table and stuff is in there?" he asked. "Yeah." Jake said "But it's in pieces and we'll have to put it together." "How long will that take?" Fireball asked. "It'll take a while." Cobalt said "But daddy and I can do it." "Yeah." Jake added as he and Cobalt got up and looked over the boxes. Squeaky, Fireball, and Bluey waited while Flipper just gave a sigh.
"This'll definitely take a while." Said Jake at last. Squeaky, Fireball, and Bluey slumped when they heard that. "But it'll be done by the end of the day, don't worry." Jake promised. "I'll call Inferno to help us since he has the tools for this kind of job." Cobalt said. A short while later, Inferno the Incineroar arrived. "You called me for some DIY?" he asked. "Yep." Jake answered "We decided to get Fireball a Train Table and some drawers so he'd have a place to put some of our toys. They need assembling." he explained. Inferno smiled "You got it. Let's get to work!" He said, holding up a power drill for dramatic effect before he, Jake, and Cobalt began assembly.
After some time, and much trial and error, the train table was built. "Phew... And we're done" sighed Inferno "That right there is one fine train table." "It sure it." Jake said as they all looked at the finished train table, with the drawers sitting comfortable underneath it. "But that's only half the job done." he added after a pause. Inferno groaned "What else do we need to do?" he asked. "Put tracks on it of course!" Jake said as he walked out of the room and came back with a bin full of wooden track. "This is the easier and most fun part, and we ALL get to take part in it." "YAY!" cried Squeaky, Fireball, Bluey, and Cobalt excitedly. "Let's build ourselves a layout!" Jake called. And the group began digging in the bin for track and destinations.
The process of building the layout for the train table took even longer than building the train table itself, mainly because everyone was trying to figure out what to put on the layout and where. Eventually they managed to come up with the "perfect" layout. "Whew, finally." Jake said "Nice job you guys. Now then..." Jake pulled out one of the drawers and dumped the remaining track and destinations from the bin into the drawer. "Alright Fireball, give it a push." Jake said. Fireball walked up the the drawer and nudged it with his head, the fox managed to push the drawer back under the table with ease. "Good." said Jake "Now you won't have to place our stuff in random places since you can now store them easier." "I love it!" Fireball replied "Thank you so much!" Jake chuckled "Sure thing. Now, let's have some fun with our new tracks!" Yeah!" shouted Squeaky, Fireball and Bluey. "Wish I could stay and play, but I've got to head to the club." Inferno said "Have fun you guys." "We will." Jake replied, and thanks for helping us with the table." "Eh, don't mention it." Inferno said as he left. "Eh, I think I'll sit this one out." Flipper said as he moved to a corner of the room and began napping.
The rest got some engines out and set them on the tracks. "This track is so cool." Bluey said as he put Winston on the tracks. "I know." Replied Squeaky. Fireball looked at Winston "Who's that?" he asked Bluey. "Oh, that's Wilson." Answered Bluey "He's a car." Fireball stared "But cars don't go on tracks, engines do." He said. "But Wilson can." Bluey replied. "But cars don't go on the tracks!" Fireball insisted. "Guys!" Squeaky exclaimed, breaking up the impending argument "That's WINSTON." she said "And he's not a car, he's a track inspection vehicle." "What's that?" Asked Bluey and Fireball together. "A track inspection vehicle is a vehicle that workmen, or in Winston's case; Sir Topham Hatt, ride in to check the tracks to see if they're alright for engines to ride on. Like a rail speeder." Jake explained. "Ohhh..." Fireball and Bluey. "Now that that's taken care of, let's have some fun on the rails!" Jake said.
Jake, Cobalt, Fireball, Squeaky, and Bluey spent the rest of the day playing on the tracks of the train table and having fun.
