I helped to clean out a barn a while back, and found that some of the upstairs friends had come downstairs. Big brown bats that gather in buildings during the summers are breeding females and their pups. Males and non breeding females sleep alone in trees. We remained quiet, and gave her space. She was calm, and no harm was done to either party. The next day she had rejoined the colony upstairs in the roof of the barn.
