Jabari and Akiki could not have been prouder of their baby boy than they were in that moment. It hadn't been an easy road. It had been a lot of hard work, both physically and emotionally. There had been... particularly tough times for the family; a tragedy they were still recovering from to top it all off. But, in that moment, none of those hardships mattered. Their baby boy had done it. Makali's ceremony was an extravagant event; the entire pride had celebrated it the whole day, and the entire Pride Lands had come to congratulate the young hero on his appointment to one of the most sacred positions in the kingdom.

And for Jabari, the great Lord of the Guard himself, to watch as his son succeeded the mantle of "Bravest of All Lions"? ... nothing could have prepared him for the pure joy of that moment. Nor the pure joy on his son's face...
