Where we were driving was in a section of the country where there are very few people. Fuel prices means the people who are there, are usually on horseback. Over the course of ten days, we never ran across another vehicle except the preserve police at their headquarters. So this fox was caught by surprise by us when we drove over the hill and stopped. The main food for this predator is likely desert tortise, mice, insects, marmots, and hedge hogs. It's looking a little beat-up on it's right side of it's face, but otherwise healthy after surviving the winter and is now out foraging for prey.
