A monument to those who fall into the Churn - past, present, and future. The iron mesh "skirt" of the statue is adorned by the Kellenite charms of those who will never return to port.
An experimental piece done for a setting I'm slowly working on for a D&D campaign. Floating islands with an impenetrable deadly layer of storm clouds beneath them.

The setting is a large mass of floating islands that in area is roughly the size of Europe.
Down beneath that is this layer of clouds that looks a bit like a rolling ocean but with electrical currents (of a magical variety) arcing through it. It's a magical storm that as far as anyone is aware goes on forever. What's known about it is that the wild destructive magic at work within it is a bit of a double edged sword.
On one hand: they CAN harvest it and develop fuel from it.
On the other: most matter that directly penetrates the cloud layer is torn apart, virtually atomized by the ravaging currents of magically infused nature.
No one is going to try to dive into the Churn with that in mind.
