The northern coast of California, a region known as "The North Coast", has many miles of pristine, isolated and undeveloped coastline. Scattered off of the coast are many rocky crags and outcroppings known as "sea stacks", while inland the forest-covered coastal mountain ranges (Coast Ranges) blanketed in Redwoods, Douglas-fir, Sitka Spruce and Western Hemlock, rise above the beaches.
