Desperta Ferro! - Original Soundtrack, underlining a short but intense, emotional scene that so far exists solely in my fantasy and imagination. The story, I can't share. But if you discover some feelings and incitations within the track that stir your own fantasy, I've achieved what I hoped for.
I'm proud of the technical aspects of this track, which to me feels and sounds like a big improvement compared to my previous works. (Thank you guys who have listened to the various stages of this work, and gave me helpful and interesting hints and material to study; you know who you are!). From a musicians point of view, however, I still have much to learn.
Thank you for listening to it.

I can hear what you're talking about regarding the brass; likely my ears were getting used to the melody way, so I didn't notice it anymore. I'm not sure I know which parts you're referring to regarding slow string attacks; could you possibly tell me a minute/second I could focus on?
Nontheless, thank you for the feedback, it's much appreciated.

I think I liked the second "half" a little bit more than the first (when there is the big pause). Very cool overall, the progression is very nice and indeed epic. :)
I have not played around with FL in a very very long time, I had no idea you could get really nice orchestral samples to use.

Thank you for the kind words!
The libraries I use (mainly the Vienna Symphonic Library + Kontakt) aren't tied to any specific DAW software. They provide various interfaces (in this case, VST), so they can be used within any software that supports VST plugins. If I'd ever change to another DAW software, I'd just be using the same libraries and plugins - but so far, I'm rather happy with FL Studio.

This is truly a fantastic piece. I don't even think "epic" does it justice. I'm just surprised that Hollywood Studios hasn't tried to recruit you yet for things like this!
Sidenote: At then end when one final note is played from the drums, I suddenly thought "The Lion King!"

Well done! I just keep drooling over the Vienna Symphonic Cube....but their complete collection at 6000 euros its waaaay out of my league...But their samples do sound really sweet! Personally I'm using Reason, do you have any experience with it? Maybe you could compare it with FL (I have used FL studio 6, but that was some time ago). Thanks!
I don't know Reason, I admit; except for some screenshots I've seen every now and then. But I can say that FL Studio has changed a lot during the past few versions, and caught up with many "lacking" features. The workflow is stilll quite different, compared to other track-based sequencers, such as Cubase, Sonar or Logic, but I've learned to like it.
If you're curious, I can always recommend downloading a demo copy of FL Studio. It's fully functional, the only restriction is that you can't save your projects, obviously. (But you can still export them.)

Thanks! I think I'll DL the demo. Actually FL is rather cheap too. My main problem with FL 6 was, that it's DSP hit it's limit on my config rather soon, and started stuttering. Reason's DSP is (or was, depending how well FL 9.7 works), far more efficient. Nevertheless I'm planning on buying an ESI Juli@ to at least have something in my rig that supports ASIO, and has a built-in DSP :P.
Since then they've introduced multi-threaded mixer channel processing, which already is a big improvement. And, of course, you can always increase the buffer size to avoid stuttering (or silence, as of 9.7, where buffer-underruns are zeroed out.), if you're not depending on real-time latencies for sampling over midi input as I do.
On a side note, I'm using a Edirol UA-25EX. Roland provides native ASIO drivers, and I can work with a stable raw latency of ~7ms. (Plus sampler latency, of course.) - It's in the same price range as the ESI Juli@, and gives you a little more flexibility in terms of input/output port types. (XLR/Jack Combo & Digital In, Cinch/Jack/Digital Out, + 1 Midi In/Out Port + Monitor Port for Headphones).

This one officially makes me feel bad for continuing to sit on my ass while there's a huge, expansive world out there just ripe for exploring and adventuring. I mean really... When did this happen? When did we forget our dreams? The infinite possibilities that each day holds should stagger the mind. The sheer number of experiences I could have is beyond measure, breathtaking even, and I'm sitting here refreshing my inbox. We live trapped in the endless loops of our own design, reliving the same few days over and over. We envision only a handful of paths laid out before us. We see the same things each day. We respond with the same thoughts, each day only a slight variation on the last. Every moment smoothly following the gentle curves of societal norms. We act like if we just get through today, tomorrow our dreams will come back to us.
And no, I don't have all the answers. I don't know how to jolt myself into seeing the potential that each moment has, the wonders that every second of existence could become. But I do know one thing: The solution won't come from watering down my every idea and creative impulse for the sake of easing my fit into a mold. It doesn't involve tempering my life to fit someone's expectations. It doesn't involve holding back for fear of reprisal. I will take on every moment with the course that is best for me. That course is, as it has always been, whatever the hell I feel like!
Hmph, I guess this really did inspire me to write... That sounds a lot less preachy and maladjusted with that track playing in the background, so thanks for that.
