You know what? This kind of reminds me of Konosuba of all things, and to a lesser extent most isekai or fantasy anime. There always seems to be a higher ratio of female adventurers to male (which is why the one protagonist tends to get himself a harem) and I'm inclined to believe it's because too many of them are like Garret up there, desperate to prove themselves to some hottie and getting themselves killed because of it.
