ATSF ALCO HH-600 #2301
At the railroad & heritage museum near me is ATSF's ALCO HH-600 class #2301. The OLDEST surviving Santa Fe diesel.
After the prototype for this class (#600) was built in 1934, many more were made including both this diesel and #2302 for the Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe Railway.
After retiring in 1964, this engine was sold to Palo Duro Grain, and then to Tulia Grain in 1970. By 1992, 2301 was placed a siding with it's work being done by an EMT. Finally, it was bought by the museum and cosmetically restored.
And here it is today still looking as nice as it did in service.
