Shadow’s Snake Showdown, Spiral-Eyed and Spellbound
Requested by onestring2497.
I’ll admit, I’m not the most familiar with Shadow; hopefully I got his character right! Similar to Big, the only Sonic game I’ve played with him in it was Sonic Chronicles. He was one of my favorites to use in that game; I loved his chaos powers! I know there’s jokes about Shadow being too edgy, but after researching him, and seeing the script for his story in Sonic ’06 (that game might not be good, but it did do some things well; Shadow’s character was one of them), he’s actually pretty cool! I may need to try and find a good playthrough of Sonic Heroes and/or Adventure 2 at some point, if only to see him in action.
Hope you enjoy!
It had been months since the Resistance had beaten Eggman, and his damage had been undone. Life had gone back to normal after that. However, one loose thread remained:
Infinite.
No one knew what had become of the jackal. The last anyone had seen of him he had been unwillingly warped away; Tails’s best guess was that he had been pulled into Eggman’s reactor. More likely than not, Infinite had died, and Sonic and his friends had been willing to leave it at that. Shadow was inclined to agree; knowing Infinite, if he was still alive and had his powers, they’d all know it. A psychopathic flying jackal obsessed with hurting people wasn’t exactly subtle. Still, powers or not, leaving Infinite to his own devices had already proven a deadly mistake, and so G.U.N. had been keeping an ear to the ground on the off chance he had survived.
Yesterday, it had paid off; they’d gotten a report of a white-haired, yellow and blue-eyed jackal in the Mystic Ruins. It might be a hoax or a trap, but ignoring the information wasn’t a risk they could take. Shadow had gone to investigate, armed to the teeth; he’d come bearing a Chaos Emerald, a handful of Rouge’s bombs, and every gun he could carry, from the Shadow Rifle to that strange one with the annoying robot Chao’s head.
Admittedly, he had brought that one as much for the thought of the look on Infinite’s face at death by such a ridiculous weapon as he had its surprising effectiveness.
Now if only he could find the damn jackal.
Shadow had been speeding through the Mystic Ruins all day with no luck; it didn’t help that most parts of it looked the same. So far, he hadn’t even seen any sign of Infinite being here, much less the mercenary himself. At this point, he was willing to chalk the report up to someone’s idea of a prank.
Rustling in the bushes caught Shadow’s attention, and he skidded to a stop. The Ultimate Lifeform whirled around, guns at the ready; there was no trick Infinite could pull that couldn’t be solved with bullets.
Big the Cat blundered out of the bushes, and Shadow slowly lowered his guns. If Infinite was going to create a copy, it’d either be of someone with excellent fighting prowess, or someone close to him; Big was neither.
Shadow asked if he had seen Infinite in the Ruins.
Big asked who that was.
Shadow raised an eyebrow. Black and white jackal? Yellow and blue eyes? Helped Eggman nearly take over the world a few months back?
Big blinked in surprise. Eggman had nearly taken over the world?
……
Shadow resisted the urge to facepalm. Yes. Eggman had nearly taken over the world. The jackal he’d just described had helped Eggman. Had he seen that jackal?
Big hadn’t. But he knew an amazing snake that knew a lot. He might have seen him! He could take Shadow to ask!
Shadow shrugged. It was worth a shot.
Time to see what made this snake so amazing.
Kaa yawned as he looked out at the lake. It had been a long, slow day. Not much had happened, other than that hedgehog running around like his feet were on fire. He’d tried to start up a conversation, but every time, he had been too slow to descend, and Shadow had sprinted out of sight. He was calling it a night when Big came back; his pet’s fur and bulk made him perfect for snuggling.
The snake smiled as he heard heavy footsteps; Big had perfect timing.
…And Shadow?!
Kaa perked up; this had just gotten a lot more interesting!
Big waved cheerfully. Hi, Ma-
Kaa chuckled. It was good to see him too. And he’d brought a friend! How nice.
Shadow wouldn’t exactly call Big a friend, but that was beside the point. Had the snake seen Infinite? Black and white jackal, yellow and blue eyes-
Kaa interrupted. He knew who Infinite was. The havoc he’d caused was hard to miss. As for whether or not he’d seen him, well, there wasn’t much point in saying unless he knew Shadow trusted him, was there? All he needed was for Shadow to look him in the eyes and say it, and the information was his.
Shadow rolled his eyes. Whatever got him info. He trusted-
Shadow was caught off guard as Kaa’s eyes swirled with color. Every ring demanded his attention, the vibrant colors-
Shadow wrenched his eyes away, slamming them shut. It was far gentler than Black Doom’s, but mind control was mind control. The snake was going to pay for that.
Before Shadow could draw a gun or summon a spear, he was tackled to the ground, weapons and Emerald going flying. He had no idea when Big had gotten behind him, but the cat couldn’t keep him pinned. Shadow started to struggle to his feet-
And the snake’s swirls filled his field of view. Kaa was practically face-to-face with him, giving the hedgehog a nice, deep look into the hypnotic spirals. Try as he might, Shadow couldn’t look away, his head and eyes twitching with the effort as he gritted his teeth. It was all he could do to resist, to ignore how soothing the spirals were, how soft and warm Big’s body was, how nice it felt to look deeper and deeper-
No! He was the Ultimate Lifeform, not some snake’s puppet! He just needed to get the Emerald-
Which was now in Kaa’s coils.
…Oh no.
The spirals surged with power and light, and suddenly they were just so appealing, swirls sweeping away his thoughts in a blissful stream of color. Shadow’s jaw hung slack as he moved his head, wide eyes tracking every ring; he couldn’t miss a single one! He knew he shouldn’t look, but for the life of him, he couldn’t remember why, and the longer he looked the less important it seemed. He just wanted (needed) to watch and relax; what could be better?
Kaa’s coils crept across the hedgehog’s body, and Shadow shuddered with delight, a smile across his face and spirals in his eyes. Every coil that wrapped around him with its compressing caress only added to the pleasure, sending Shadow into panting, moaning bliss. Kaa’s words echoed in the hedgehog’s head: how he loved this feeling, how he wanted to be happy and hypnotized, not a thought in his head but obeying the snake and his spirals, being a good boy for his master, and how good it all felt. How being a good boy meant being a cute, cuddly pet, ready to fulfill master’s every need – food, entertainment, protection, companionship, anything- and how master would love him in turn, providing him with all the coils, colors and praise he could ever want.
Shadow was practically drooling in dazed delight; of course he’d obey! Why had he ever resisted when he could have relaxed instead?! All he needed, all he wanted, was to be Master’s pet!
A final coil around his neck, a quick tug, and a PING! rang out in the hedgehog’s head as he broke into a goofy grin.
Kaa chuckled as he looked at his swirly-eyed Shadow, purring away in his coils. It had been a hard-fought victory, but it was worth it; the Ultimate Lifeform was the Ultimate Pet. So sweet when he stopped struggling… He’d have to make him nicer, more receptive out of trance, give him two triggers: one for sending him spiral-eyed, and one to get him halfway; he liked a challenge, but he didn’t always want to go through the trouble.
Speaking of which…
Kaa looked at the emerald in his coils. He had no idea how this thing had helped his hypnosis, but he was definitely keeping it; it would be a huge help with particularly resistant and/or dangerous prey and pets. He wouldn’t use it if he didn’t have to (it wouldn’t do to get too reliant on the gem, lose it, and have a hard time hypnotizing). Come to think of it, he could use Shadow as a training dummy; snap him out of trance, trigger him halfway, and finish the rest himself. He might be a dopey, drooling mess for a while, but he’d be okay. His master would make sure of that.
In the meantime, he was going to see how well the emerald enhanced the pleasure from his eyes; Big was getting something special tonight.
As the snake played with his pets, content with his catch, he remained unaware of the jackal watching them from a tree.
Infinite smirked.
He had plans for his payback.
