This picture is here to display two of the little worldbuilding details that have been previous presented but not fully addressed .
The female anthro characters in my drawing are often seen wearing Flora crowns or ear corsages that feature arrangements of flowers. These are more than casual ornaments. Since many of the therian people have a very keen sense of smell these ear corsages are selected as much for their pleasant smell as for their visual appeal. In addition to this the symbolic meaning of the species selected is meant to communicate something about the wearer's mood, heritage, homeland, or domestic status.
The species of the wearers is often a great determining factor. Marsupials such as these ladies, often favor eucalyptus, banksia, and telopea flowers. More carnivorous peoples such as felines and mustelids often prefer herbs like rosemary, mints, and sage or flowers with more musky perfume smells. Where as deer, rabbits, and other herbivores usually like more fruity and floral scents.
A very large industry has developed around this practice with greenhouses, distribution, and floral arrangement shops ( like the one depicted here) being thriving features of the local economy.

Another little worldbuilding feature I'd like to share here is the maternity cummerbund that the female possum is wearing. This garment is made to help support the babies in the pouch and adapt more standard and commonly available clothing to the modesty and anatomical consideration of keeping a baby in pouches. The garment can also service as an artificial pouch for a male wanting to raise a joey. Also a pair can use an artificial pouch to share parental duty between both the male and female parents. I plan to get into the further domestic and cultural norms associated with this in much greater detail in a future drawing.

Oh, i love everything in this! The perfume thing is very interesting, it hasn't been explored enough, even in human literature, except for that süskind book, that is brilliant but also very disturbing. It should be central in an anthro world, expecially one where carnivores and herbivores must share habitats, finding a middle way that isn't disturbing for anyone.
I've always felt that the carnivores vs herbivores model was a bit off. Most animals eat both and even the traditional notion gets broken down by grey foxes being one of the most important seed dispersion mammals in North America or by chipmunks munching down snakes.
I have so much I want to do with this smell related world building, canines especially with it being more important than sight. I want their culture to be built around it. Even sent based signs and books.

Researching this has been a fun botanical adventure. I've found all kinds of orchids and protea flowers that have complex relationships with their partners. Also I've found this heavenly species of magnolia that smells like banana cream pie and a wonderful coconut orchid that I'm now growing after finding out about them.
