Why can't he run anymore? What happened?

After the accident with a werehog encounter , he was badly injured that caused he lost his speed , can still somewhat run but no longer that fast anymore

I feel bad for him that he lost his speed, at least in exchange for losing his speed he gained the strength and muscles of a werehog and super stretchy arms to compensate for losing his speed. He has his name changed into Mavic , sort of get annoyed when ppl calling him Sonic due to it reminded him bad things had happened to him , after the Werehog encounter his tempers were really bad so he joined special force after to help w the temper , so that he can function daily tasks
