I'm part of a collaborative project headed by Phoenixrage16 featuring a collection of stories set on modern day Earth in a universe where furries and humans mingle in peace and harmony. However not everything is quite as it seems, as some secretive people possess unexplainable powers from Earth bending, pyromancy and even telepathy to name a few. The story starts from the point of view of two of phoenixes which get caught in crossfires of a secret military group trying to hunt down their kind and other supernatural phenomenon.

I really recommend giving these stories a read as it's already the most developed canon for my own characters. It's aimed for a more mature audience both for violence and adult themes (there are also some uncensored errotic scenes for those who are intrested, but also censored versions of each of these stories for those who do not to read the goings on on the bedroom.)
