Tanuki Character Design
A character design I made to flex my character design muscles and to add to my concept art portfolio; was looking at pictures of Japanese Raccoon Dogs and wanted to design a character based on the animal, as well as mythological depictions of the tanuki. This was inspired in part by the recently released Kamigawa: Neon Dynasty expansion of Magic: the Gathering as well.
Initially, I was going for blues to match the aprons that tanuki statues sometimes have, but detoured into greens as I went in a more arboreal direction (matched with the abstract designs on the wooden plates she wears that resemble a tree's roots).

Thank you! Yeah, the eyes being closer together maybe ended up pushing her appearance closer to a human rather than the raccoon dog she's based off of. Most definitely, as well; blues would make it fall into the classic warm/cool contrast, but I defaulted to my usual colour schemes, hahaha.
