Ningal is a special type of Mauka -- unlike the gray mountain Mauka, Ningal the blue Mauka hails from the forest. His blue-green pelt and scales help him blend in with the foliage of the dense trees.
When he is flushed from the woods, Ningal becomes nothing more than a blur on six legs, his iridescent scales a mere flash as he lopes by. Having just finished bolting, Ningal slides to a stop and rears up as if to challenge anyone to run as fast or as far as he.
After all, with their remarkable 6-beat gaits, wide, strong backs, and amiable personalities, Mauka make marvelous steeds... at least, to those who do not fear their incredible speed! In fact, they are such popular mounts, height and speed are measured in 'mauks'.
Good luck outrunning this fellow - you're going to need it!

Note to self: Not to be confused with the tiger-like Muaka from BIONICLE G1. Cool species design, and definitely something I wouldn't want to have to outrun!
