I don't normally repost finished commissions from other people in my gallery, but I have a shortage of pics of Johnny and Patience in my gallery, so I felt I needed to correct that.
One of Johnny's positive qualities - positive in the absolute sense, anyway - is his endless optimism. No matter how things happen, he tends to assume it'll all be good in the end. Situationally, this tends to work against him at times, especially in terms of his luck with women. Johnny's not very bright and, although you might find he's really a sweetheart once you get to know him, that requires getting past his terrible first impressions.
See, Johnny's not exactly an expert in social graces. He's one of those kids who grew up on television with absentee parents and an "I'm just doing my job" nanny. So, most of his ideas of how men are supposed to behave come from television. He's trying to be likeable and charming, like the guys in the movies and tv shows he grew up with, but it hasn't quite sunk in that what can be charming on TV doesn't come across the same in real life.
As a result, Johnny tends to come across as a bigger sleaze than he really is. But he keeps trying. Perhaps one of these days, his persistence will pay off.
Patience, on the other hand, does not have time for nonsense. She can't figure out why Johnny keeps trying to flirt with her when she obviously isn't interested. She's seen him with lots of other girls - who seem to feel the same way she does about him - so hes' clearly not a one-girl kind of guy. It would be so much nicer if he just left her alone to get her studying done. She's not one to go for permanent transformations as a rule - she's not mean, she just sometimes feels she needs to emphasize a point - but Johnny's really pushing it with her.
What she hasn't learned yet is that it seems to be impossible to make curses on Johnny stick. No one seems to know why. Perhaps his unshakable belief that things turn out okay weakens spells cast on him. Perhaps the universe finds his antics to amusing to let them end after one time. Or perhaps it's soemthing else nobody's guessed at yet. Either way, this isn't the first time Patience has used her witchcraft on Johnny and you can bet it won't be the last.
On a side note, I really like this effect XBC9 does. I'm gonna have to try something like it myself in the future.

Thou maketh a fascinating subject for thaumaturgical study, as do thy garments.
I think it's his naive 'innocence' (in the same absolute sense). If Johnny ever did wise up, whatever boon is keeping him safe would probably vanish. He'll get better.
