HC 13 - Late November 2020
<<< PREV | FIRST | NEXT >>>
CW: Set in a real-ish world during the pandemic; so, expect COVID, death due to COVID, pro-science politics, plus lots of food/discussing food and alcoholic drinks.
Late November 2020: Theodora stresses about the move, which causes friction. How can she tell Odysseus’ sincerity?
———
Every time I say “I’m just going to do one chapter per month,” I always think of something else I want to do, lol. This is a bit of a middle, but I wanted to show a bit of conflict and resolution between the two of them as well as explain a bit about what Odysseus actually does.

Okay, first off, Theodora's folks are WONDERFUL!! Can they adopt meeeee?
Second, oh these two are off to a WONDERFUL start if they're going to be living together...
Third, we get to the crux of the problem: Odysseus is not human and doesn't see things in normal human ways. Just as Theodora won't see things in demonic ways, therefore they must use the most rare magic of all...
COMMUNICATION!!!!!!
Fourth, I LOVE the way she's taking his place and making it her place too. Just little things here and there.
Some of what was mentioned in this really hit home. When I moved down to where I am now, all I could take with me was what would fit in a small SUV. Being a 20-30 hour drive, depending on traffic it was a one-and-done deal so a lot of things got left behind.
I've also had things that were very precious and irreplaceable to me, that would have value to literally nobody else stolen from me in an earlier move.
Moving just SUCKS, and is stressful, and is neither the time to tease someone nor the thing to tease someone about.
I'm just glad they talked things out. :)

I read something the other day about showing details rather than just explaining them; so, I wanted to introduce Theodora’s parents and show that it was a bonding moment to put in contrast against Odysseus offering to pay movers.
And I’m sooooo glad that the fight and the communication really seemed to come through. They really are just very different creatures trying to figure each other out, and it’s going to take work.
For sure, moves are stressful. I didn’t even move that far and it was so much. I can’t imagine trying to pack into an SUV and then losing some of it on top of that. Ugh.
