It may not be, but I can 100% see an interaction between Adventure Gomamon and Tamers Renamon/Kyubimon going exactly like that.

If only because in the Dub, they might have increased the snark/sarcasm level of Gomamon a few notches up from the original Japanese script.

I still loved the Dub growing up, however, especially Joshua Seth, who has a surprisingly small career in anime voicework (Digimon Adventure 1/02, Cyborg 009, Akira, and I think I remember hearing him in Transformers: Robots in Disguise a couple times, only ones I remember hearing).
