Showing the shimmery delightfulness that is the paints from Beam Paints northern lights set! They're gorgeous shimmery paints with ethically sourced mica (the mineral used to make a lot of shimmery/iridescent products that is often mined dangerously and without care for the welfare of the people mining it!) and hand made by a M'Chigeeng First Nation family! The paints come wrapped in waxed linen instead of plastic pans and you can even buy sets in slices of wood or little pouches. I'm yearning for one of the pea pod sets one of these days. I've bought from them twice now and they are very sweet, responsive and even sent me little extras in the form of a whole paint (for my first purchase of a sample card and a brush) and a sample card with the Northern Lights set! I can highly recommend these paints if you can get your hands on them.
The paints I used on Wren were -
Winter Night for the black on its head - it's a lovely dark blue pigment with gold shimmer that looks like stars!
Shell for the blue sky - It's a white/pearly shimmer that I just wanted to use at some point so why not
Glacial River on the blue of its wing feathers - An icy blue pigment with warm slightly yellow shimmer that looks like a frosty morning!
